Find out more about the Wellness Journal’s founder & passionate journal keeper Helen Dalley

My name is Helen…
Hello, my name is Helen Dalley and I’m a wife, mother of two young boys and journalist by trade. I began my journalism career on Guitarist magazine in the beautiful city of Bath and relocated to Hong Kong in 2005 for 12 years after my wanderlust was well and truly sated by a three-month sabbatical to San Francisco. Following the birth of my children, I relocated back to the UK in 2017 and have been a freelance writer & editor since 2012.
I’ve kept a diary since the age of 12, and have used journaling as therapy most of my life without even knowing it. When the national lockdown hit the UK in March 2020, I found myself journaling more regularly to make sense of the situation. Along with walks and runs, reflecting on the new normal in my notebook helped keep me sane. Seeing people struggle with their mental health and with long waiting lists for counselling, I wondered if journaling could have a positive impact on others too. I completed a Journal Therapy diploma online and became increasingly passionate about the power of creative writing to heal and help us understand ourselves better. Last year, I held my first introduction to journal therapy workshop online and have since hosted workshops for wellbeing groups and teachers & students at my children’s school.
I’m available for one-on-one and group journaling sessions and offer discounts to non-profits and those on low incomes.
