Journaling prompts

The blank page can be a daunting place.
Use these journaling prompts to break writer’s block

1 Write down 3, 5 or 10 things you are grateful for today

2 Identify 10 things that are making you stressed and 10 ways to tackle it

3 Write a letter to a friend to tell them how much they mean to you

4 List your 10 best qualities as a person

5 What is something you need to forgive yourself for? Write it down and leave it in the past

6 Think of 10 words to describe yourself and write them down

7 Write down the 5, 10 or 20 things are you looking forward to in the next few months

8 Describe your ideal day, from the moment you open your eyes to the time your head hits the pillow

9 Ask how you can be kinder to yourself today, tomorrow and next week

10 Ask yourself: what emotions am I holding on to and how can I detach or neutralise them?

 

11 What things have you done in your life that you never thought you could do? Write about them and reflect on how these achievements made you feel

12 Make a list of your top five short term and long-term goals

13 What three things would you do if you weren’t so afraid? Jot them down then explore how to overcome that fear

14 What are your favourite weekend rituals?

15 Write about three people that inspire you and describe their winning qualities

16 Compose a bucket list for your life in terms of relationships, family life, work, travel and so on

17 Write the words you need to hear from someone and reflect on how you could make this happen

18 Write about a favourite holiday or daytrip and recall the details that made it so good

19 Describe your favourite person in a few paragraphs

20 The universe is speaking to you. What is it saying?
